How was 2010 for you?
I’m alive and kicking, so it was great!
Highlights?
There are many. Moving to Cincinnati to regroup and spend time with my music has been good to me. Plus, I got away from some bad situations and people. Working with Adam Jay, DJ Pierre and Afro Acid and touring South America and Europe was great for me. Playing ADE and reconnecting with good people and old friends like Frankie Vegaand Rees Urban from Chicago was good. Moving in with my current girlfriend, and seeing my son a bit more, have been good things this year. My music and my new label, Slap Jaxx (my techno label), is doing quite well, and I’m being inspired by some of the music I am releasing on the label. Home Audio Recordings, which is my new house label, is scheduled to release its first single late this year with remixes by Giom, Sleazy Mcqueen, myself and Jose M from Colombia. I finally ate the worm, took the dive and re-emerged and found my lost fish Eddie.
Lowlights?
Early 2010 was quite bad for me, but I learned a lot of good things from those bad experiences. One is “don’t believe the hype.” There’s a lot of fake people in this industry ready to do whatever it takes to be popular/important. I suppose it was a bittersweet moment for me because it opened up my eyes to many things, and I’m doing better because of it. Other than that everything has been kosher.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Collaborate more. Spend more time honing in my sound as I should have been. Read more books. Help more people help the scene. Listen to more bluegrass. Eat more hot wings. Be aggressive and on my toes again. Don’t take shit from anyone. Have a bake sale. Chase the dragon some more. Finish my album which I had finished four years ago but labels suck; I am starting over. Help the homeless. Take care of my family and my friends more. Learn to finally make tamales from scratch… Hate and love some more and fuck all who question it.
